Partly. Every Big4Two seat has its own jets, and the published two-seat schematic gives each side its own foot hydro pump with its own intensity dial and its own heated seat keypad, but the main therapy controls are shared. One digital controller runs the air massage, the seat hydro massage and the LED light for both bathers, and one intensity dial sets the seat jet strength for the whole tub. What the Two-Seat Full Package Schematic Shows is the drawing behind that split, and this page turns it into a seat-by-seat answer using the Big4Two spec sheet and brochure.
What Both Seats Share
The two-seat schematic, which prints Available On: Companion, Escape, Tub4two, Big4two, is drawn around two bathers. It duplicates the parts that belong to each bather and shares the parts that belong to the tub. The shared list is the digital controller, the master control box, the air pump, the seat jets hydro pump, the in-line water heater, the ozone generator, the LED light and the optional microbubble system. The Big4Two spec sheet puts figures on those shared parts.
- Air massage: a 4.5A 500W three-speed pump with Auto-Purge, feeding 18 Seat Jets (9 on each seat) and 4 Foot Jets, controlled by the digital controller. Auto-Purge activates 20 minutes after the pump is turned off.
- Seat hydro massage: a 9A 1250W pump with one Intensity Dial Air Control, feeding 16 Upper Seat Jets (8 on each seat), controlled by the digital controller.
- In-line water heater 6A 800W and ozone sterilization 0.04A on the hydro system.
- LED chromatherapy: a multicolor 0.5A bulb with transformer, controlled by the digital control pad.
- Optional microbubble therapy: a 1 HP 7.3A pump with pressure vessel, agitator valve and its own On/Off push control.
The brochure callout diagram, explained in Where Everything Is on a Two-Seat Tub, labels a single Digital Push Control that runs hydro, 3-speed air, the LED light and the foot jets, and a single Hydro intensity dial control. So when one bather changes the air speed or the seat jet strength, the change applies to both seats.
What Each Seat Has of Its Own
The independence is in the jets and in the foot and heat circuits. On the spec sheet each seat gets 8 upper seat hydro jets and 9 air seat jets, and the brochure callout reads 4 foot hydro jets (each seat), so both bathers receive the same back massage and the same footwell massage from their own seat. The two-seat video tour, covered in Two-Seat Tubs on Video, describes each seat as having its own jets and its own independent systems, which is what separates a true two-seater from an extra-large single tub.
The schematic then draws two foot-jet hydro pumps, one per seat side, each with its own air flow intensity dial, so each bather can set the foot massage they like. Each side also has its own Heat Keypad and its own HSB box, and each HSB box drives the surface heater pads on that seat, so the heated seat and backrest, which is an optional feature on the Big4Two, switches on per side. The foot system uses an On/Off push button rather than the digital controller, and the schematic draws that button per side as well.
| Therapy | Shared or per seat | Control | Big4Two spec sheet figures |
|---|---|---|---|
| Air massage | Shared pump, both seats together | Digital controller, 3 speeds | 4.5A 500W, 18 Seat Jets (9 on each seat), 4 Foot Jets |
| Seat hydro massage | Shared pump, one intensity dial | Digital controller | 9A 1250W, 16 Upper Seat Jets (8 on each seat) |
| Foot and calf hydro massage | One pump per side on the schematic, with its own dial | On/Off push button | 7A 1000W, 4 Foot and 4 Calf Jets (one pump entry printed) |
| Heated seat and backrest (optional) | Per side: own Heat Keypad and HSB box | Surface key pad, On/Off push button | not listed |
| LED chromatherapy | Shared | Digital control pad | 0.5A bulb with transformer |
| Microbubble therapy (optional) | Shared | On/Off push control | 1 HP pump 7.3A, pressure vessel |
Read across the rows and the pattern is clear. Anything that touches the whole body of water, the air, the seat jets, the light, the microbubbles, is one system with one control for the tub. Anything that lives at one seat, the footwell pump and the heater pads, is drawn per side with its own button or keypad. Two bathers can therefore disagree about foot massage strength and seat warmth, but they share the air speed and the seat jet intensity.
One Foot Pump or Two: What the Documents Print
Two published documents describe the Big4Two foot system slightly differently. The spec sheet prints one line, Hydro Massage for Foot and Calf Jets with a 7A 1000W pump, one Intensity Dial Air Control and an On/Off Push Control. The two-seat schematic, which lists the Big4Two by name, draws a foot jets hydro pump with its own dial on each side. Both come from Ella, and this page reports both as printed rather than choosing between them. The practical difference is whether the two footwells share one dial or have one each, so if separate foot massage settings matter to you, confirm the configuration on your order paperwork with your Ella dealer or the team at (800) 480-6850 before the tub is built.
Dedicated Lines for a Two-Seat Package
Because the foot and heat circuits are duplicated, the Big4Two draws more circuits than a single-seat tub. The Big4Two profile reports the comparison chart's figures: two 20 amp lines for the Air + Hydro + Hydro package and three 20 amp lines when microbubble is added, and the two-seat full package schematic is drawn on three dedicated lines. The spec sheet asks for dedicated GFCI protected electrical line(s) on 115V 60Hz equipment, with every fixture on a dedicated GFCI outlet or GFCI breaker. Give your electrician the schematic for your package so the shared control box, the per-side foot pumps and the heater boxes each land on the intended line.
What the Split Means When Two People Bathe
The Big4Two product video shows the digital touch controls activating the three-speed air massage, the hydro massage with its in-line heater and intensity dial, and the foot and calf hydro jets, and it makes the point that you can sit in comfort and enjoy just the foot massage. In everyday use that plays out like this. Agree on the air speed and the seat jet strength, since those are set once for the tub. Set your own foot massage at your own dial and your own seat warmth at your own keypad, where the tub is built that way. And when one of you bathes alone, the video tour's advice applies: sit on one seat, put your feet up on the other, and use the tub as a recliner, since nothing requires both seats to be occupied.
