If the auto purge is not running on your tub, the first thing to check is whether your tub has the air massage package at all. The Auto Purge exists only on tubs with the three speed air massage; it blows leftover water out of the air lines about 20 minutes after the air pump is switched off and runs for 120 seconds. A hydro only tub such as the Zen has no air lines to purge, so it never cycles, and that is by design rather than a wiring mistake. If your old tub purged and this one does not, the most common reason is that the two tubs have different therapy packages. If your tub does have air massage and the purge has stopped, the cause is usually the air pump plug at the control box or a control box input fault.
Likely Causes
- The tub is hydro only or a soaker, so there is no air system to purge. The therapy package cheat sheet shows what each package includes.
- On an air tub, the air pump is not plugged into the top of the blue control box, so the box cannot start it for the purge.
- A blower or control box input fault on an air tub that used to purge and no longer does.
What to Check, in Order
- Confirm the package. Look for the small air holes in the seat, hips and feet and a button or icon for the air massage. Hydro jets are the larger adjustable nozzles. No air holes means no purge, and nothing is wrong. The Auto Purge air system guide explains which tubs have it.
- Run the air massage for a minute, turn it off, and wait about 20 minutes. Presses on the air button cycle high, medium, low and off, so make sure the fourth press actually shut the pump off before the wait begins.
- Check the air pump plug. It belongs in the female plug on top of the blue control box. A pump plugged straight into the wall outlet runs whenever it has power and is never triggered for the purge.
- Check that the power cord and the pump cords are pushed fully in at the box, and that the green LED on the box is lit.
- Run the control box reset in the control box guide. If the drying cycle no longer starts after a reset, note the blink count you set, and try swapping the air and water hoses at the box, since those two nipples are easy to reverse.
When to Open a Ticket
If your tub has air massage, the plugs and cords are correct, the box reset made no difference and the little air holes still do not push out the leftover water, open a ticket at ellasbubbles.com/support or call your Ella dealer or the team at (800) 480-6850. Include your serial number, a photo of the blue control box with all plugs and air tubes visible, and whether the air massage itself runs normally, so the team can confirm whether the blower or the box is at fault.
