The Ella LayDown60, also called the LayDown 30x60, is a walk-in tub built for lying down at full length rather than sitting: a flat-floored acrylic tub with an actual size of 60 inches long by 30 inches wide by 21 inches high, a tempered glass inward swing door in a brushed aluminum frame, a low threshold and a single 2 inch brass drain with overflow. It can be ordered as a soaking tub or with air massage, hydro massage or microbubble therapy, and because every Ella tub is assembled and tested to order, current availability for your configuration is confirmed by your Ella dealer or the team at (800) 480-6850. What is the Ella LayDown walk-in bathtub and which sizes are available? introduces the family, and this page gathers everything the LayDown60 spec sheet says about the 30x60 size in one place.
The LayDown60 Spec Sheet, Figure by Figure
Everything below is printed on the current LayDown60 specification sheet and its technical drawings, or has been confirmed by the support team. Compare these figures with your alcove, your doorway and the person who will bathe before you order.
- Actual size: 60 inches long by 30 inches wide by 21 inches high. The technical drawing prints the overall length as 59 3/4 inches.
- Interior floor: a flat 46 inches long by 20 inches wide with a textured slip-resistant finish. The soaking space widens above the floor to about 53 by 25 1/2 inches, and there is no seat.
- Soaking depth: the product guides describe it as 15 inches, compared with about 11 inches in a standard bathtub. The measurement from the floor of the tub to the overflow is 15 3/4 inches, and the team has confirmed the water does reach that line.
- Door: a tempered glass panel in a brushed-finish aluminum frame with a chrome locking handle. The opening is 19 5/8 inches wide and the door swings inward through a 115 degree arc, so no floor clearance is needed in front of the tub.
- Drain: one 2 inch brass drain with overflow. The visible drain opener and cover come in chrome only.
- Shell and frame: gloss white acrylic reinforced with fiberglass gelcoat, on a stainless steel frame with adjustable leveling legs.
- Weights and crate: net weight 160 lbs, shipping weight 220 lbs, shipping size 63 inches long by 33 inches wide by 29 inches high.
- Water capacity: the unoccupied capacity field on the spec sheet is blank, so no gallon figure is published for this model. Your Ella dealer or the team at (800) 480-6850 can confirm it.
Two printing quirks are worth knowing. If a brochure cover shows this model with a shorter length, that is a known misprint, and the actual size is the 60 by 30 by 21 inches above. The spec sheet also prints a seat line because it shares a template with the seated tubs; the LayDown has no seat, so ignore it. How Deep Is the Water Really in a Walk-In Tub? explains where the depth figure is measured from and why it is the depth you can really fill to.
LayDown60 Next to the LayDown72
The LayDown comes in two sizes, and the table below sets the 30x60 beside the 32x72 using only figures that appear on the spec sheets and in the published guides.
| Specification | LayDown60 (30x60) | LayDown72 (32x72) | What it means for you |
|---|---|---|---|
| Actual size | 60 inches long, 30 inches wide, 21 inches high | 32 inches wide by 72 inches long nominal; the drawing prints the overall length as 71 3/4 inches; height not listed | The 72 is wider as well as longer, so check alcove width, not just length |
| Interior floor | 46 by 20 inches | 22 1/2 inches wide; length not listed | Both are flat floors with no seat |
| Soaking depth | 15 inches, with 15 3/4 inches from floor to overflow | 15 inches | Both are deeper than the roughly 11 inches of a standard bathtub |
| Door | Tempered glass, inward swing, 19 5/8 inch opening, 115 degree arc | Tempered glass in a brushed aluminum frame; opening not listed | An inward swing needs no floor clearance in front of the tub |
| Drain | 2 inch brass drain with overflow; left or right drain | 2 inch threaded brass drain with a cable-operated opener and copper overflow, 2 3/4 inch drain hole; left or right drain | Find your house drain before you choose a side |
| Faucet | Not included and no faucet option; a wall-mounted faucet must be used | Faucet-ready with an optional Ella deck-mount faucet | The 60 needs an existing or new wall-mounted faucet |
| Weights | Net 160 lbs, shipping 220 lbs, crate 63 by 33 by 29 inches | no aparece | Measure the route into the bathroom against the crate |
What the differences mean: the LayDown72 is wider as well as longer, so measure the width of your alcove as carefully as its length before choosing the larger size. Both tubs give the same depth of water, so the 60 is the natural choice when the opening is a standard 60 inch alcove or the bather does not need the extra length. It is also the only size with no faucet option at all, which matters if there is no wall-mounted faucet in the room today. Laid-Down Walk-In Tub Dimensions and Fit has the step-by-step space check for either size.
Therapy Packages and What the Controls Do
The LayDown60 is custom ordered in one of four configurations, and the spec sheet lists what each adds under the deck.
- Soaking: no jets, just the deep flat-floored tub.
- Air massage: an air massage pump with 20 jets, a 3-speed pump and an on/off push control. On the push control the first press is high speed, the second is medium, the third is low and a fourth press turns the system off. Auto purge activates automatically 20 minutes after the air pump is turned off and runs for 120 seconds to blow residual water out of the air lines. It cannot be stopped and is normal even if it starts while you are still in the room.
- Hydro massage: a hydro massage pump with an intensity dial control, an in-line water heater that keeps the water temperature consistently comfortable, ozone sterilization and an on/off push control. The current spec sheet does not print a hydro jet count for the LayDown60, so ask the team for that number rather than relying on an older video.
- Microbubble therapy: an air pressure pump with a pressure tank and an on/off push control, generating a warm cloud of skin-softening microbubbles.
Older product videos cite different jet counts for the lay-down family. Where a video and the current spec sheet disagree, the spec sheet is correct. LayDown Tubs on Video: 30x60 and 32x72 Walkthroughs, the Glass Door, the Drain and Where the Controls Are shows where the hydro intensity dial and the plunger controls sit on the deck.
Faucet, Shower Screen and What Is Not in the Box
The LayDown60 is never sold with a factory faucet. The spec sheet states that the faucet is not included and that a pre-existing or new wall-mounted faucet must be used, and there is no faucet option to add when ordering. That is a real difference from the LayDown72, which is faucet-ready and offers an optional Ella deck-mount faucet, and from the older 3060 product video, which shows a waterfall faucet and hand shower on this model. Treat the faucet footage in that video as superseded; the rest of it is still accurate and shows the chrome locking handle, the tempered glass door, the low threshold and the 20 air jets of the air massage version.
The one optional accessory on the LayDown60 is a folding tempered glass shower screen, which has its own installation document. With the screen installed, the drawing shows a screen span of 38 1/4 inches made up of 21 inch and 17 inch segments with a 1/4 inch gap, standing 57 and 57 1/2 inches high on a base 20 1/4 inches deep. The video shows the bi-fold door's chrome hinges and brackets and the gasket along the bottom edge that keeps shower water inside the tub.
Availability and What to Confirm Before You Order
Every Ella walk-in tub is assembled and tested to order in Chicago, so the LayDown60 is not sitting on a dealer floor waiting to be picked up, and Ella's Bubbles publishes no fixed timeframe from paid invoice to delivery. Availability of a particular configuration, such as a left or right drain with a given therapy package, changes, so the honest answer to "is it in stock" is to ask your Ella dealer or the team at (800) 480-6850 for the current status of the exact configuration you want. Customer reviews are not part of the product documentation, so the team is also the place to ask for firsthand feedback.
Before you confirm, check three things. Measure the route into the bathroom against the 63 by 33 by 29 inch crate. Confirm you have, or your plumber will install, a wall-mounted faucet. And read the warranty line on the spec sheet: a lifetime limited warranty on the shell, frame, door and parts to the original purchaser at the original address. Do they make a bathtub that is only 15 inches high? explains why the LayDown60's 21 inch height is the lowest profile Ella offers and where the 15 inch figure comes from.
