Can I run only the foot jets on the Transfer60 walk-in tub?

Yes, as long as your Transfer60 was built with a Hydro Independent Foot Massage package. That package gives the 6 foot jets their own hydro pump, their own push button and their own intensity dial, so you can fill just the footwell and run the foot jets while the 16 seat jets stay dry and off. On a Transfer60 ordered with the single-pump Hydro Massage package, one 7 amp pump feeds all 22 jets, so the foot jets cannot run alone and the tub must be filled above the highest seat jet before the pump starts. Which Transfer60 Packages Put the Foot Jets on Their Own Pump

The current Transfer60 spec sheet lists seven ways the tub can be ordered, and only the two packages that name Hydro Independent Foot Massage carry a second hydro pump. The table uses the figures printed on that sheet. Where the sheet prints no separate figure for a package, the cell says not listed.

The difference between the rows is the number of hydro pumps, not the number of foot jets. Every hydro package on the sheet puts 6 jets at the feet, but only a package with two hydro pumps lets those jets run on their own. The two hydro jet counts printed on the sheet, 22 for the hydro packages and 11 for the Air + Hydro package, are both correct for their own package, so the jet count on your tub is set by what you ordered rather than by the model name. The LED chromatherapy light, rated 0.5 amp with an on/off push control, is included with dual or triple packages.

How to Run a Foot-Only Session on a Transfer60 with the Package

The video below shows the routine on the Ultimate, where independent foot massage is standard, and the fill mark and button sequence are the same on a Transfer60 built with a Hydro Independent Foot Massage package.

1. Close the door and both drains. The Transfer60 has two 2 inch drains with two overflows, each closed with a stainless steel operated opener on an extended chrome handle.
2. Fill the footwell to just below the seat and just above the calf jets, so every foot and calf jet is under water. Stop there; the seat jets are on a different pump and stay off.
3. Press the foot massage button once. Set the strength with the foot intensity dial: turning it up lets more air into the jet stream, and turning it down reduces it.
4. Press the foot button once more to turn the system off, then open the drains.

On these two-pump configurations the in-line heater is attached to the foot massage pump, so it helps hold the water temperature while the foot jets run. The heater keeps warm water warm and never heats a tub from cold. For a full-body massage, fill 1 to 2 inches above the highest seat jet and run both pumps; the water level guide referenced in How Do I Use Only the Foot Massage Without Filling the Whole Tub? shows both marks.

Why a Shared-Pump Transfer60 Must Be Filled to the Top Jets

On the Hydro Massage package the same 7 amp pump feeds the 16 seat jets and the 6 foot jets through one push control. If you fill only the footwell and press that button, the pump pushes water out of the exposed seat jets and risks running dry. A pump run dry is permanently damaged, and that damage is not covered by the warranty. So on a shared-pump tub, fill to at least 1 inch above the highest jets you intend to run before pressing any hydro button, and treat the foot jets as part of the whole-tub massage rather than a separate spa.

The second pump, its jets and its dial are built in at the factory, so independent foot massage cannot be added to a shared-pump Transfer60 later. If foot-only bathing matters to you, settle the package with your Ella dealer or the team at (800) 480-6850 before the order is placed.

Power and Controls on a Two-Pump Transfer60

• The spec sheet calls for dedicated GFCI-protected electrical lines at 115/120 volts, 60 Hz, and triple packages that combine air, hydro and independent foot massage require two dedicated GFCI 120 volt 20 amp outlets.
• Push controls are standard, and a digital controller is an optional feature on the sheet. With push controls, the Transfer60 is one of the tubs listed on the drawing explained in What the Air + Hydro + Hydro Foot Schematic Shows, which draws the seat hydro pump and the foot hydro pump as separate systems, each with its own intensity control and on/off button.
• If microbubble therapy was added on top of the three massage systems, the Transfer60 is one of the three tubs on the drawing explained in What the Air + Hydro + Hydro Foot + Microbubble Schematic Shows.
• Auto Purge is part of any package with the air pump: about 20 minutes after the air massage is turned off, the air pump starts on its own and runs for 120 seconds to blow leftover water out of the air lines. It is automatic and cannot be stopped.
• The sheet notes that the amp value for each pump may change based on availability, so the pump on your tub may not match the figure printed for the package.

If the Foot Button Also Starts the Seat Jets

On a two-pump tub the seat and foot systems are independent, so one can run while the other does not. If pressing the foot button starts the seat jets, or you cannot tell whether your Transfer60 has one hydro pump or two, check your order first. Then send a photo of the control cluster on the deck, a photo of the pumps under the tub if you can reach them through the two access panels in the removable front apron, and your order details to your Ella dealer or the team at ellasbubbles.com/support or (800) 480-6850. The team confirms your package from your order and tells you the safe fill level for your tub. Do not test with the footwell filled until the package is confirmed.
