What is the Ella Flow walk-in tub and what does it include?

Updated September 2026

The Ella Flow is Ella's compact space-saver walk-in tub, 28 inches wide by 48 inches long by 36.5 inches tall, designed for small to average size bathers and smaller bathrooms. It comes with a 16 jet hydro massage system with an in-line water heater and intensity dial, the 2-piece fast-fill faucet set with a pull-out hand shower, an inward-swing acrylic S-shape door, and a single 2 inch drain with an emergency pull-up chain. The faucet set is explained in What Is a Fast-Fill Faucet on a Walk-In Tub?.

Size, Seat and Capacity

  • Actual size: 28 inches wide by 48 inches long by 36.5 inches tall. The product video notes it fits through a 28 inch doorway.
  • Seat: 20 inches wide and 13 inches long, with a 16 1/2 by 22 1/2 inch footwell on the dimension drawing.
  • Water: 65 gallons unoccupied, 30 to 50 gallons occupied.
  • Weight: 210 pounds net, 310 pounds shipping, in a 32 by 54 by 49 inch crate.

Although the tub itself is 48 inches long, the spec sheet lists an extension panel as an included filler for 60 inch alcove installations, plus a removable end panel that covers the faucet side and a removable front apron. Because the Flow is the smallest tub in the line, compare your seated hip, shoulder and head-to-feet measurements with the drawing before you order.

What Comes with the Flow

  • Shell, frame and door. A gloss white acrylic shell reinforced with fiberglass gel coat, a stainless steel frame with adjustable leveling legs, and an inward-swing acrylic S-shape door with a low threshold and textured floor.
  • Hydro massage. An 8.1 amp, 900 watt pump feeds 16 jets, including foot and calf jets for lower leg massage, on a push control with an intensity dial. A 6 amp, 650 watt in-line water heater keeps the circulating water comfortable. The second video on this page shows how turning the dial up adds more air to the jet stream for a stronger flow.
  • 2-piece fast-fill faucet. A solid brass chrome spout with a single lever and diverter button, two 3/4 inch by 5 foot braided supply lines, and a pull-out hand shower with 5 settings on a 5 foot braided hose, limited to 1.9 gallons per minute. Chrome or brushed nickel finish.
  • Drain. One 2 inch PVC drain and one overflow, closed by a plug on an emergency pull-up chain. The drain sits on a T-type body whose ports install in either direction, with a cap for the unused port.

The chain-operated drain is described in What Is the Emergency Pull-Up Chain on a Walk-In Tub?, and the drain body in What Is a 4-Port T-Type Drain on a Walk-In Tub?. The Flow's spec sheet does not list a grab bar or towel bar, and its jetting section lists hydro massage only, so ask your Ella dealer or the team at (800) 480-6850 if you want other therapies or accessories.

Options

The spec sheet lists one optional feature, a 4 amp heated seat and backrest, which must be added when you order. The product video also mentions an optional removable head and neck support.

Electrical, Plumbing and Warranty

The Flow is unusual in the Ella line: it requires one dedicated 110/120 V, 60 Hz line with a 15 amp GFCI standard three-prong outlet, where most other Ella tubs specify 20 amp. Have your licensed electrician confirm the circuit from the spec sheet. Shut-off valves are not included, so plan easily accessible ones near the tub, and remember that fill time depends on your home's water pressure and supply lines; see Why Does My Walk-In Tub Fill So Slowly?. The sheet states a lifetime limited warranty on parts to the original purchaser, with labor and installation not covered.

Common Questions

Does the Ella Flow fit a standard 60 inch alcove?
Yes. The tub itself is 28 inches wide by 48 inches long, and the spec sheet lists an extension panel as an included filler so the Flow can fit neatly into a 60 inch tub alcove. An end panel covers the faucet side.
What electrical connection does the Ella Flow need?
The Flow needs one dedicated 110/120 V, 60 Hz line with a 15 amp GFCI standard three-prong outlet. Most other Ella tubs specify 20 amp, so have your electrician plan from the Flow spec sheet rather than a general Ella guide.
Does the Flow have a dual drain like other Ella tubs?
No. The Flow has one 2 inch gravity drain with one overflow, closed by a removable plug on an emergency pull-up chain. The drain sits on a T-type body so your installer can connect the house drain from either side and cap the unused port.
What therapy system does the Ella Flow include?
The Flow comes with a 16 jet hydro massage system, including foot and calf jets, driven by an 8.1 amp pump with a 6 amp in-line water heater. A push control turns it on and an intensity dial adjusts the strength of the jet stream.
How much water does the Ella Flow hold?
The Flow holds 65 gallons unoccupied and 30 to 50 gallons when occupied, depending on bather size. It is the smallest tub in the Ella line.
Which faucet comes with the Ella Flow?
The Flow ships with the Ella 2-piece fast-fill faucet set: a single-lever solid brass spout with a diverter button and a pull-out hand shower with 5 settings on a 5 foot braided hose. It is available in chrome or brushed nickel.
