How tall is the Ella Deluxe and what are its full dimensions?

The Ella Deluxe has an actual size of 55 inches long by 29.5 inches wide by 39 inches high, which makes it the tallest tub in Ella's stainless steel inward-door family and a half inch narrower than a standard 30 inch doorway. Inside, a 21 inch wide seat, a 47 1/2 inch interior length and a 19 inch seat-to-overflow depth give it the extra legroom it is known for. The Deluxe Dimensions at a Glance

The figures below come from the current Deluxe spec sheet and Ella's comparison chart. Where a product video quotes a slightly different interior number, the spec sheet and chart govern.

Taken together, these numbers describe a tub that is short enough to drop into an opening under 60 inches yet taller and longer inside than the Petite, Elite and Royal. The 39 inch height is not something you climb over, because you step through the door, so it translates into water depth rather than difficulty. The crate is the figure that most often surprises people: at 46 inches high and 33.5 inches wide it is a different object from the tub itself, so walk the delivery path with the shipping size in hand.

Exterior Height, and Why 39 Inches Is Not a Barrier

On a conventional bathtub the rim height is the wall you have to climb over. On a walk-in tub you enter through a door over a low threshold, so the exterior height stops being an obstacle and becomes the thing that gives you depth. The taller shell lets you sit on a molded seat with water up to your chest instead of lying in a shallow pool. The Deluxe stands 39 inches, against 35 inches for the Petite and Elite and 35 3/4 inches for the Ultimate, and that extra height is where its 19 inch seat-to-overflow depth comes from. By comparison, the Elite, Petite and Royal run roughly 15 1/2 inches from seat to overflow, and the Ultimate is 18 1/2 inches. The Deluxe video shows the tub from the side and states the same idea in plain terms: an easy entry low threshold, a textured slip-resistant floor, sturdy grab bars, and a chrome locking handle on the brushed stainless steel door.

The door itself is an inward-swinging brushed stainless steel door with frosted tempered glass. Because it swings into the tub, it does not need clear floor space in front of the tub to open, which matters in a bathroom where the 55 inch length was chosen to save room. The front apron is removable and carries two access panels, and the tub includes a stainless steel chrome deck and wall-mounted grab bar and a removable swivel tray in white matte finish.

Interior Figures That Decide the Fit

Soaking depth on a walk-in tub is set by three measurements working together: the interior length, the seat length, and the depth from the top of the seat to the center of the overflow. The Deluxe publishes all three: 47 1/2 inches of interior length, a 15 1/2 inch seat, and 19 inches from seat to overflow. The footwell is 17 inches wide by 19 inches long, and the drop from seat to footwell is 15 inches. Ella's comparison chart puts the Deluxe next to the Ultimate 60 by 30, which has a 51 1/4 inch interior, a 16 inch seat and an 18 1/2 inch seat-to-overflow depth, so the Deluxe gives up some leg length to the Ultimate but sits you slightly deeper. Your own size decides the result. A taller bather with a long torso sits higher in the water than a shorter bather on the same seat, and a long torso will feel a shallower soak. There is no soaking depth calculator; the reliable method is to sit in a chair facing a wall, measure your hips and shoulders while seated, then measure from your head to your feet in a relaxed position, and compare those numbers with the Deluxe figures above. Will the Deluxe Fit Your Opening and Your Doorway?

The Deluxe is the model the team most often suggests for an opening that is a little short of 60 inches. A space of 58.5 by 29 inches points to the Deluxe, and so does a 30 by 58 inch space, because the tub is actually 29.5 inches wide and 55 inches long. Because it is half an inch wider than 29 inches, confirm the width at the tightest point once the walls are finished. In a 57 or 58 inch opening the tub drops in and the included 4 inch extension panel and reversible end panel help close the gap at one end; your installer decides how to finish any small remaining space. Note that the Deluxe extension panel is 4 inches, not the 7 inch panel that ships with some other stainless-family models, so do not plan around the wrong figure. • Getting it into the room: at 29 1/2 inches wide the Deluxe passes a standard 30 inch doorway, which the Deluxe video states directly. Every Ella tub ships in one piece with removable aprons and panels, so measure hallways and turns as well as the bathroom door.
• The crate: shipping size is 58.5 inches long by 33.5 inches wide by 46 inches high at 286 pounds. If the crate will not clear a doorway, the tub can be uncrated and carried in on its own.
• Drains: the Deluxe uses two 2 inch four-port PVC drains with two overflows, and the T-type four-port design lets the drain run in either direction, which gives your plumber flexibility on where the house drain sits.
• Electrical: the tub needs dedicated GFCI-protected 110/120 volt 60 hertz lines, so have your electrician plan the outlets within reach of the access panels before the tub goes in.

Ella presents the Deluxe as a luxury tub for average to taller bathers who want a little extra legroom without moving up to a 60 inch footprint. It ships as a fixed dual-massage package with air massage, hydro massage, LED chromatherapy light and ozone sterilization, an in-line water heater and the 5-piece fast-fill faucet rated up to 18 gallons per minute at 60 PSI; a heated seat and backrest is the one listed option.
