Unused Towel Bar or Hand Shower Holes on the Deck: Are Plugs Available?

Ella does not offer plugs for the towel bar holes or the hand shower hole on the tub deck. If your installation leaves the towel bar holes unused, the practical fix is a cosmetic cover such as a sticker or a similar small cover from a hardware store. The hand shower hole is different. If you are connecting the hand shower hose to a wall mount, the Leak Elimination Kit is the part the team recommends for that deck hole, so nothing drips onto the deck or behind the tub.

Towel Bar Holes

The deck arrives drilled for the towel bar, and in some bathrooms the bar cannot be installed because a wall or fixture is in the way. There is no factory plug for those two holes, and none ships with the tub. Owners cover them with a sticker or a similar small cover sized to the hole. Choose something that tolerates water and wipes clean, and check that it sits flat so it does not catch a towel or a sleeve.

The Hand Shower Hole

The hand shower normally sits in its deck mount base with the hose connected underneath. There is no plug for that hole either, but there are two sensible ways to handle it:

  1. Leave the hand shower in its deck mount and use it from there, which is the standard setup.
  2. If you are connecting the hose to a wall mount instead, ask the team about the Leak Elimination Kit, which is the part used for that deck hole when the hand shower moves to the wall.

The slider bar installation guide covers mounting the hand shower on the wall, and the barrel extension hose article explains the hose piece that carries the hand shower connection through the deck. If the hand shower is staying on the deck but the hose or diverter is giving trouble, the hand shower troubleshooting article covers those repairs.

Planning a New Order

If you are still ordering and already know the towel bar cannot go on the deck, or you plan a wall-mounted hand shower from the start, raise it with your Ella dealer or the team at (800) 480-6850 before the tub is built. The no-faucet ordering article explains what to discuss when you plan to use your own fixtures.

Common Questions

Do you sell plugs for the towel bar holes?
No. There is no factory plug for the two towel bar holes on the deck, and none is included with the tub. Owners who cannot install the bar cover the holes with a sticker or a similar small cover from a hardware store.
Is there a plug for the hand shower hole?
No plug is offered for the hand shower deck hole. If the hand shower hose is being connected to a wall mount, the Leak Elimination Kit is the part to ask about. Otherwise, leave the hand shower in its deck mount base.
What is the Leak Elimination Kit used for?
It is the part the team recommends when the hand shower hose is connected to a wall mount instead of the deck mount base. It addresses the open deck hole so water does not run behind the tub. Ask the team by ticket or phone to add it to a parts order.
Can I order a tub without the towel bar holes?
If you know before ordering that the towel bar or deck hand shower will not work in your bathroom, discuss the deck configuration with your Ella dealer or the team at (800) 480-6850 before the tub is built. The team can tell you which options exist for your model.
