Projection by Door Family

The Transfer family (Transfer30, Transfer32, Transfer60, TransferXXL) uses a wide outward-swing door. Measured from the tub, that door reaches about 36 inches into the room at 90 degrees, a figure the team confirms for the Transfer32. It is the largest door in the lineup and needs the most open floor in front of it.

The U-shape outward-swing family (Capri, Monaco, Front Entry, Mobile, Lounger, Shak, Big4One) has a narrower door. On the Monaco it projects about 19 to 20 inches at 90 degrees. Inward-swing doors, including the S-shape acrylic door and the stainless steel door, open into the tub. They need clearance for you, not for the door, so a tight bathroom that cannot spare 20 inches in front of the tub often points toward an inward-swing model. You Do Not Always Need the Full 90 Degrees

The 90-degree figure is the honest planning number, but the door does not have to reach it for you to get in. On the Transfer, an opening of roughly 55 degrees is usually enough to step through, which shortens the projection considerably. Toilets and the Door Side

The most common obstruction is a toilet. If the toilet sits only a few inches from the tub on the door side, the door will hit it. Switching the door to the other side is the first thing to look at, but remember that the door and the drains are on opposite sides of an Ella tub, so the door side also decides where your plumber's drain connection lands. How to Check Your Room

1. Identify the door family of the model you are considering: Transfer outward, U-shape outward, or inward swing.
2. Stand where the tub's front edge will be and measure straight out into the room at the door location.
3. Compare that distance to the projection: about 36 inches for a Transfer door, about 19 to 20 inches for the Monaco's U-shape door, none for an inward door.
4. Note anything inside that distance, especially a toilet, vanity, or door casing, and whether it sits on the door side.
