Can the Ella Tub4Two be ordered in left or right drain?

Mis à jour Novembre 2026

Yes. The Ella Tub4Two can be built with its door on the left or on the right, because every Ella model except the Front Entry is offered in both handings, and it always ships with two 2 inch drains rather than one. Door side is the choice you make at order, and the dual drain comes either way. Common Model Questions rounds up the left-or-right rule for the whole line, and this page stays with what it means for the Tub4Two.

Left and Right on an Ella Tub

Ella describes handing by the door, with left and right taken as you face the tub. A retailer listing may label the same choice as a left-hand or right-hand drain configuration, which is why people search for the Tub4Two under that wording, but on the order it is the door side that is specified. The handing sets the orientation of the whole tub in your 60 inch alcove, including which way the door opens and where the connections sit, so it has to match the room. The spec sheet carries dimension drawings for the tub, and your plumber should rough in from the drawing for the handing on your order and compare it with the existing waste line before you confirm.

Two things decide the handing in practice. The first is the door. The Tub4Two door swings outward, so you need clear floor in front of it, and the handing should put the open door where that space is. The second is the plumbing already in the wall and floor. Tell your Ella dealer or the team at (800) 480-6850 which way you face the alcove and where the existing drain is, and they will confirm the handing to write on the proposal.

The Tub4Two Dual Drain

Whichever handing you choose, the drain package is the same. The spec sheet lists:

  • Two 2 inch 4-port PVC drains, with 2 end caps included.
  • 2 overflows.
  • 2 stainless-steel operated openers with extended handles in chrome finish.
  • The Ella 2 inch T-type dual port floor drain configuration.

The product video on this page calls this Ella's dual drain technology and shows the dual four-port T-type drains emptying the tub quickly and efficiently, which matters in a tub that holds 100 gallons unoccupied. If you later decide you want a second faucet so each bather has a spout close at hand, the drain layout does not change; only the supply side does, as Adding a Second Faucet to the Tub4Two explains.

The Door: Outward-Swinging, Left or Right

The Tub4Two has an outward-swinging U-shape door with a tempered frosted glass panel in a white composite frame, locked by Ella's 3-latch gear and shaft mechanism. Read the spec sheet with care here. Its title says Acrylic Outward Swing Door, but one line in the feature list describes an inward swinging removable stainless-steel door. That line is a misprint; the Tub4Two door swings outward. If you want an inward-swinging door in the same 32 by 60 inch footprint, that tub is the Companion, which has the brushed stainless steel door with frosted glass that lifts out for cleaning and seats of 23 and 25 inches against 20 and 22 inches on the Tub4Two. What is the difference between the Ella Tub4Two and Companion tubs? works through that choice.

What Ships with Every Tub4Two, Either Handing

The figures below are from the current spec sheet, which is the authoritative source for the tub's imperial specifications.

  • Actual size 32 by 60 by 40 inches; shipping size 34 by 62 by 50 inches. It fits a standard 60 inch opening.
  • Net weight 230 pounds; shipping weight 325 pounds.
  • Two seats, 20 and 22 inches wide, facing each other.
  • Water: 100 gallons unoccupied, 65 to 85 gallons occupied.
  • Seat hydro massage: 9A 1250W pump, intensity dial, 18 upper seat jets with 9 on each seat, run from the digital controller.
  • Foot and calf hydro massage: a separate 7A 1000W pump, 4 foot and 4 calf jets, on/off push control, 6A 800W in-line water heater and ozone sterilization. The video shows the point of the second pump: a foot massage without filling the whole tub.
  • Air massage: 4.5A 500W three-speed pump, 12 seat jets with 6 on each seat plus 6 foot jets, with Auto Purge that activates 20 minutes after the pump is turned off.
  • LED chromatherapy: multicolor 0.5A bulb on a transformer, run from the digital control pad.
  • Two-piece fast-fill faucet rated up to 16 GPM at 60 PSI under ideal in-home plumbing, with two 5 foot supply lines with 3/4 inch connectors and a pull-out chrome hand shower on a 5 foot braided hose. One faucet is standard; a second is an order-time option.
  • Removable front apron with two access panels and one reversible end panel.
  • Dedicated GFCI protected 115V 60Hz electrical lines for the equipment.
  • Options: MicroBubble therapy system with a 1 HP 7.3A pump, and a heated seat and backrest.

The reversible end panel is part of why one shell serves both handings: the panel covers the faucet end whichever way the tub faces.

Seeing Both Seats Before You Decide

Because the Tub4Two is a true two-seater, each seat has its own share of the jets and systems, and the tub is also comfortable for one bather stretched out with feet on the other seat. The walkthroughs collected in Two-Seat Tubs on Video show the Tub4Two beside the Companion, Escape and Big4Two. When you are ready to order, make sure the proposal lists the handing, the faucet count and the shower column count, and have your plumber and electrician read the spec sheet for the handing on your order. Ella ships the tub and supports your installer by ticket or phone; a local licensed plumber and electrician do the connections.

Questions fréquentes

Can I order the Tub4Two with the door on the left?
Yes. Every Ella model except the Front Entry can be built with the door on the left or the right, as you face the tub. Tell your Ella dealer or the team at (800) 480-6850 which handing suits your room and it goes on the order.
Does the Tub4Two have one drain or two drains?
Two. The spec sheet lists two 2 inch 4-port PVC drains with 2 overflows and 2 stainless-steel openers with extended chrome handles. The video shows this dual drain emptying the tub quickly.
Which way does the Tub4Two door swing open?
Outward. It is a U-shape door with a tempered frosted glass panel in a white composite frame and a 3-latch gear and shaft lock. The line on the spec sheet feature list describing an inward stainless-steel door is a misprint.
Does adding a second faucet change where the drains go?
No. A second faucet changes only the supply side, because your plumber ties two faucets into the hot and cold lines instead of one. The dual drain layout stays the same.
How much water does the Tub4Two hold when full?
The spec sheet lists 100 gallons unoccupied and 65 to 85 gallons occupied, since the bathers displace part of the water. Actual occupied volume varies with bather size.
Will the Tub4Two fit a standard bathtub alcove?
Yes. Its actual size is 32 by 60 by 40 inches, so it fits a standard 60 inch opening. The crate is 34 by 62 by 50 inches, so check the route into the bathroom as well as the alcove.
