What Are the Seat Width and Door Opening for Each Ella Model?

Mis à jour Novembre 2026

Seat width and door opening are two of the interior figures printed on each Ella model's specification drawing, and they vary by model rather than by the size in the tub's name. The published figures include a 17.25 inch door opening on the Capri, a 16.25 inch door opening on the Elite, a 23 inch seat on the Royal and 22 and 24 inch seats on the two acrylic Transfer sizes, and Walk-In Tub Dimensions Explained shows where to read the rest on the drawing for your exact tub. The table below collects every figure the published material states and marks the gaps so you do not have to guess.

Seat Width and Door Opening by Model

ModelSeat widthDoor openingWhat it means for the bather
Caprinon répertoriée17.25 inchesOne inch wider door than the Elite, with a 17 inch seat height and a 3.5 inch threshold
Elitenon répertoriée16.25 inchesSlightly narrower door, 15 inch seat height places the bather deeper in the water
Monaconon répertoriée19 1/4 inchesWidest listed opening on a 52 inch tub, on a shell 32 inches wide
Royal23 inchesnon répertoriéeWide seat on a tub 31.5 inches wide, so the doorway is the first check
Flow20 inchesnon répertoriéeSeat figure from the Flow drawing; read the door opening from the same sheet
Transfer 30 by 5222 inchesnon répertoriéeExtra wide L-shaped door, 44 inches of interior length, 15 1/2 inch seat length
Transfer 32 by 5224 inchesnon répertoriéeSame interior and seat length as the 30 inch version, 14 1/2 inch soaking depth
TransferXXL29 inchesnon répertoriéeWidest listed seat in the lineup, for bathers who need the most seat room

Two things stand out. First, door opening follows the door family more than the overall size. The Capri and Elite are both 30 inch wide, 52 inch long tubs, yet the Capri's outward-swing door opens one inch wider than the Elite's inward stainless steel door, and the Monaco, which shares its door with the Capri on a 2 inch wider shell, opens wider still. Second, seat width grows with the footprint on the Transfer line: the 32 inch version gains 2 inches of seat over the 30 inch version while keeping the same 44 inch interior length and 15 1/2 inch seat length. The wheelchair transfer tub video tour shows both acrylic Transfer sizes and points to the seat width, interior length and soaking depth on each. For any model not in the table, the drawing published alongside its listing carries the seat width, the seat height and the door opening, and the dimensions guide notes that the seat on several models is 18 inches wide, so never assume a figure from a family overview.

Door Opening Is Not the Bathroom Doorway

The door opening is the width of the tub's own door, the space the bather steps through. The bathroom doorway is a different problem and uses a different number: the tub's actual exterior width. That width has to be smaller than the clear opening of every doorway and hallway on the path, measured at the tightest point with the door stops and trim in place. A tub that measures a full 32 inches across does not reliably fit a 32 inch doorway, as Can a 32 Inch Walk-In Tub Fit Through a 32 Inch Doorway? explains, and the Royal, at 31.5 inches wide by 52 inches long by 35 inches tall, will not pass a 28 inch door frame in any orientation, as the Royal doorway guide shows. The Elite's actual size is 30 by 52 by 35 inches, so its passage must be wider than 30 inches. Use the actual size on the spec sheet, never the rounded name, and work in inches, because the imperial figures are the authoritative ones.

Seat Width Works Together with Seat Height and Threshold

The seat figure alone does not tell you how a tub will feel. Three other figures on the same drawing matter as much:

  • Seat height. The Capri's 17 inch seat is close to chair height, which makes sitting down and rising feel familiar. The Elite's 15 inch seat sits the bather a little deeper in the water. The Capri versus Elite comparison lays those figures side by side.
  • Step-in threshold. The Capri asks for a 3.5 inch step and the Elite a 6 inch step, which decides how easily a bather with limited hip or knee movement gets to the seat at all.
  • Soaking depth. As the Transfer video explains, soaking depth is set by the interior length of the tub, the length of the seat and the depth from the top of the seat to the center of the overflow vents, and a bather's own size determines the depth they actually get. The Transfer 32 by 52 soaks to 14 1/2 inches.

Read all four figures for the models you are considering, then ask whether the seat is wide enough for the bather to sit without pressing on the walls, whether the seat height suits their knees, and whether the threshold is a step they can make every day. A wider seat on a wider tub only helps if the tub reaches the bathroom.

Finding the Figures for a Model Not Listed Here

Every Ella model has a specification drawing published alongside its listing, and the walk-in tub dimensions page on ellasbubbles.com is the place to start. Ella's footprints run from compact 26 by 45 inch tubs to 32 by 72 inch laid-down models, with 30 by 52 the most common size and 32 by 52, 38 by 52, 30 by 60, 30 by 55, 28 by 52 and 27 by 60 also offered, so a seat and door figure exists for each, as the sizes and measuring guide outlines. A few actual sizes show how the name rounds: the Petite is 27.5 inches wide, 52 inches long and 35 inches high and sells as a 28 inch tub, the Lounger is 26 by 60 by 40 inches, and the LayDown 30 by 60 is 21 inches high. If you tell your Ella dealer or the team at (800) 480-6850 the model you are considering, or the height and weight of the tallest bather, they can send the current drawing and compare the seat width, seat height and door opening against your bathroom.

Questions fréquentes

Which Ella model has the widest published seat?
Of the figures published here, the TransferXXL's 29 inch seat is the widest, followed by the 24 inch seat on the Transfer 32 by 52 and the 23 inch seat on the Royal. Seat widths for models not in the table are on their specification drawings.
Which model has the widest published door opening?
Among the listed figures, the Monaco's 19 1/4 inch door opening is the widest, ahead of the Capri at 17.25 inches and the Elite at 16.25 inches. The Transfer family's L-shaped door is described as extra wide, but no inch figure for it appears in the published material here.
Is the door opening the same as the bathroom doorway measurement?
No. The door opening is the width of the tub's own door. The bathroom doorway must clear the tub's actual exterior width, so a 30 inch wide Elite needs a passage wider than 30 inches regardless of its 16.25 inch door opening.
Does a wider tub always have a wider seat?
Within one family it often does: the Transfer 32 by 52 has a 24 inch seat against 22 inches on the 30 by 52. Across families the seat is set by the design, so read the drawing for the exact tub rather than inferring from the width.
Where is the seat width printed for my model?
On the specification drawing published alongside that model's listing, together with the seat height, the door opening and the measurement across the front of the tub where the door sits. The walk-in tub dimensions page on ellasbubbles.com links to the current drawings.
How do I know which seat width suits the bather?
Give your Ella dealer or the team at (800) 480-6850 the height and weight of the tallest bather and the models you are considering. They can send the current drawings and compare seat width, seat height and threshold against the bather and the bathroom.
