Piece Counts for Every Ella Wall Product

People searching for tiles per box are often comparing a boxed tile with a panel kit. The table puts the published counts side by side. Where a figure is not published, the cell says so.

Boxed tiles and panel kits scale differently. Tiles scale to any wall. A taller ceiling, a third wall or a shower you already have simply means more boxes. Kits are fixed sets built around an alcove footprint, so with a kit you check the footprint and the height, not the number of pieces. The SMC subway kits are glossy white panels with a subway tile pattern, an integrated flange on each panel and a tongue-and-groove interlock. The 12-piece kit contains four 60 by 24 inch back panels and eight 36 by 24 inch side panels, and the panels go up bottom row first. SMC kits ship in a wooden frame with bubble wrap, foam and sealed plastic. The SMC kits are a different product from the grout-free tiles, so be specific about which one you are asking about.

The acrylic 3-panel kit is one back panel 60 inches wide and two side panels 40 inches wide, in your choice of a 98 or 105 inch height. 2. Multiply height by width for each wall and add the results together.
3. Divide the total by 144 to get square feet.
4. Divide the total square feet by the coverage per box for your tile, then round up to whole boxes.
5. Note any windows, niches or partial walls that change the count, and mention them when you ask about your order.

About four boxes is a common starting point for a standard tub alcove. It is a starting point, not a rule. Ceiling height, whether the tile runs all the way to the ceiling, and whether you are covering one wall or three all change the total, so measure your own walls.

What to Confirm Before You Order

• The tile name and color, for example the 12 by 24 grout-free tile in Carrara White, or the click tile color you prefer.
• The coverage printed for that tile, and the piece count per box if you need it for your layout.
• Your wall measurements or the box count you calculated.
• Whether the walls surround an Ella walk-in tub, an Ella shower base, or a shower you already have. The tongue-and-groove grout-free tiles can be used around a walk-in tub as well as in a shower.
