Ella’s Bubbles Aromatherapy and your bath – useful tips to remember

Aromatherapy can be a wonderfully relaxing element to your bathing experience. It will do its magic only when the oils are used properly. Safety first!
The most essential thing to remember is that essential oils are not water soluble. That means that you should not just put them in the bath directly. When used incorrectly, they will create film on the top of water that can cause an irritation and can intensify effects to the skin due to the warm water and the hydro massage.
Dispersing essential oil in water
Essential oils need to be dispersed in your tub carefully. The most convenient way is to mix it with a small amount of  shower gel or shampoo. Use 5-10 drops of pure 100% essential oil, mix it well with a shower gel or shampoo and then add this mixture to your bath. You can also use a washing liquid that is free from  sulfates, parabens, artificial colors and fragrances.  Honey is also a useful alternative to use in the same way as shower gel/shampoo mix.
Also, Polysorbate 20 and Polysorbate 80 are safe substances to use for dispersing essential oils in water. They can be found fairly easily.
Keep in mind that any salt (including Epsom salt) will not ensure full dispersion of an essential oil when mixed with water.
Ella’s Bubbles walk-in tubs can be equipped with an Aromatherapy dispenser that works with the hydro massage system to gently introduce the essential oils or scents into the tub water.
Tips for aromatherapy baths
Aromatherapy and use of essential oils should always be pleasant – use the essential oil or blend only if you like the smell.
If your skin is very sensitive you may use lavender and tea tree essential oils and use less essential oil. Always consult with your Physician if you’re unsure about possible side effects.
Always start with the minimum amount of essential oil. Less is better.
It’s easy to be tempted by all of the wonderful, natural blends of essential oils and aromas available in the market today. It’s wise to check your skin reaction to each substance before you bathe.  Try it on a small area of your skin together with the shower gel/shampoo mix before taking a bath.
If you have an unpleasant reaction, you should at first apply an oil (olive, coconut, grape seed or any other emollient) onto the affected skin area and then apply soap and water to rinse it off. Slight redness and mild warm feeling is normal. It should disappear in about 10-15 minutes.
Use an aromatherapy bath for a maximum of 15 minutes.
Always choose 100% pure essential oils in dark glass bottles (usually 5-15ml).
